The solar array will create approximately 70% of the annual energy consumption, typically ski areas second biggest expense, behind payroll. Last summer, Mt Abram received a USDA REAP Grant for a 25% match, up to $235,000. That allowed the project to have an expected payback of 4.5 years, making it a wise investment.

The solar panels are installed directly across from the main parking lot and demonstrate that solar works, even in harsh winter climates.
Mt Abram won the 2012 Golden Eagle Award for Environmental Excellence. We applaud ownership for committing to being better stewards of our planet.
